KOTA SAMARAHAN:  Several companies interviewed final year students of the Faculty of Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) during the faculty’s open days on April 29 and 30.

Other activities held included a symposium on the engineering students’ final year projects, an exhibition on their research, seminars and visits to laboratories including STEM lab.

The Faculty of Engineering was the first faculty to hold open days at the university this year.

Four departments within the faculty – Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Energy Sustainability, Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering – worked together to make the open days successful.

Headed by its dean Assoc Prof Ir Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib, the open days were launched by Unimas deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) Prof Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim.

Primary and secondary schools, public and private higher learning institutions, industry representatives, village heads as well as community leaders around Kota Samarahan attended the open days.
