UZBEKISTAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has strengthened its international collaborations by signing four Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and two Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) with four universities in Uzbekistan.

The signing ceremony took place during the Uzbekistan-Malaysia Business Forum held in Samarkand on Saturday (May 18), with UNIMAS represented by its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit.

The four Uzbek universities involved in these agreements are Tashkent State University of Economics, the International School of Finance Technology and Science (ISFT Institute), Renaissance Education University and Turan International University.

The MoU and MoA documents were exchanged in the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev.

In a statement, UNIMAS said these understanding and agreements aim to foster extensive collaboration in various areas, including student and staff exchanges, mobility programmes, research collaborations, international matching grants and training and development initiatives.
