UNIMAS holds EduTour2023 until March 8

KUCHING: The Faculty of Language and Communication (FLC) Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is organising the EduTour2023, a short-term international mobility programme from Feb 21 to March 8.

The international mobility programme is organised in collaboration with Utsunomiya University (UU), Japan.

EduTour has been specially crafted and designed as a programme that promotes partnership and collaboration between UU and UNIMAS with a series of activities consisting of English language lessons that reflect United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), visits to places of interest, and recreational activities among others.

This is the sixth edition of the programme as it was first held in 2018 whereas the programme was held virtually due to challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

“A total of 31 students and five staff from UU will be participating in the EduTour2023. They will be assisted by the EduTour team from FLC and 29 student buddies from UNIMAS who will be assisting in English classes as well as various social and out-of-class activities.

“We wish all the participants a fun and wonderful learning experience in UNIMAS,” the university said in a social media post yesterday.

EduTour has made its mark significantly by winning a number of awards including the SDG Award 2020 (EduTour), Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2021 (Merit award), PECIPTA 2022 (Gold Award), IUECL 2022 (Gold Award) and InTEX 2022 (Silver Award).

The opening ceremony took place at the Students’ Pad for Academic, Culture and Entertainment (SPACE), FLC UNIMAS and was officiated by UNIMAS Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit,

The delegation from UU was led by Prof Tatsuhiro Ohkubo and joined by Assoc Prof Akiko Iizuka and Kaho Aigase.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Prof Dr Ambigapathy Pandian, Dean of FLC; Dr Ernisa Marzuki, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate & Commercialisation) FLC; Prof Dr Lo May Chiun, Senior Director of Research, Innovation & Enterprise Centre (RIEC) UNIMAS; Assoc Prof Dr Mah Yau Seng, Head of Innovation and Commercialisation Unit for RIEC UNIMAS, and Assoc Prof Dr Soubakeavathi Rethinasamy, Coordinator of EduTour2023.
