SAMARAHAN: A gathering of 500 students and staff took place at the Square Chancellery Bucida Square of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) for the Sungke @ the Square programme yesterday (April 14) evening.

Organised by the UNIMAS Chancellery in collaboration with Student and Alumni Affairs (HEPA) and Cempaka College, the picnic-style ‘sungke’ (breaking of the fast) was held under a beautiful sunset.

Students of other races joined their Muslim friends in the breaking fast occasion, demonstrating a show of unity.

Also in attendance were the Chairman of UNIMAS Board of Directors, Tan Sri Datuk Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, and the Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

The programme aimed to strengthen mutual understanding and foster unity among individuals while enjoying the sunset view with family and friends.

The outdoor ‘sungke’ also celebrated the 10th anniversary of Professor Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Suaidi’s tenure as vice chancellor.
