KUCHING: The growing demand for qualified English teachers in rural areas and the increasing importance of English in various industries has prompted the Faculty of Language and Communication (FLC) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to launch a new programme.

The Master of Education Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MEd TESOL) programme aims to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach English to non-native speakers at different proficiency levels.

“The MEd TESOL programme, which can be completed in either one year full-time or two years part-time, offers a comprehensive curriculum consisting of 40 credits. Classes will be conducted on weekends to accommodate working professionals.

However, those without a bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields may still be considered if they have a minimum of five years of working experience in a related field,” UNIMAS said in a press release today.
