KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has once again rated as the 401 best universities in Asia in The Higher Education (THE) Asia University Ranking 2020 results released on Wednesday.
The rating of THE Asia University Rankings is based on the achievements of five indicators, namely Teaching (25 percent), Research (30 percent), Citations (30 percent), International Outlook (7.5 percent) and Industry Income (7.5 percent).
The steady achievement by Unimas is the result of the collective campus community endeavour to uphold the university’s name globally and to become a university of choice among students and researchers.
Unimas was also shortlisted in three categories for the Asia 2020 Award, the International Strategy of The Year-Roaring Unimas as a Global Brand, Excellence and Innovation of the Arts, and Workplace of the Year. Unimas is the only university in Malaysia and Southeast Asia to be named in all three awards.
Last year, Unimas was also the only university in Malaysia and Southeast Asia to be shortlisted at the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2019 in Abu Dhabi for two categories, namely the Outstanding Support for Students Award and the Technological Innovation of The Year Award.
This year’s achievement propels Unimas to reach higher and to continue to improve in the areas of teaching, learning, research, internationalisation, and industry relations, as part of the university’s ongoing quest towards global excellence.
