SAMARAHAN: UNIMAS has been ranked 1,201 amongst the 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions; and ranked 401 in the world impact university ranking.

UNIMAS Pro-Chancellor Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas congratulated the university, which had a;sp received recognition from The Awards Asia 2022.

At the same time, UNIMAS was top eight and shortlisted in two categories – Workplace Of The Year and International Strategy Of The Year.

“With the continued collaborative support given between the Sarawak Government and UNIMAS, I am optimistic that the university will reach greater heights in the years to come.

“Having read the UNIMAS Strategic 2021-2025 plan, I am very optimistic and confident with the direction the university is heading,” he said.

Uggah, who is Deputy Premier, said this in his speech during the fourth session of the 26th UNIMAS Convocation Ceremony today.

With its plans and aspirations, he added that the university will be able to produce future-ready graduates, promote research excellence, produce talents, be globally competitive and most importantly, financially sustainable.

“I believe with the new plan and aspiration, UNIMAS will be able to leap towards excellence and achieve transformation through its core functions in education, research, exchange of knowledge, as well as through engagement with stakeholder and communities.

“My aspiration is for UNIMAS to be in the top 100 in the World University Ranking someday and to produce future talents and leaders. That will definitely make Sarawak proud!” he said.

At the fourth session of convocation ceremony, a total of 687 graduates from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology and the Faculty of Engineering had received their scrolls.

A total of 3,972 graduates from the university will be receiving their scrolls in various levels of study from PhD, Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree during the 26th UNIMAS Convocation Ceremony this year.
