KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) received a delegation from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA) on Wednesday (Oct 26).

UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi disclosed that the delegation was led by Prof Hans Akkermans who is the Professor of Business Informatics.

He stated that UNIMAS and VUA started a collaborative project in the field of Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) research and education in 2017.

“The researchers have developed methods to build information systems in low-resource, low-tech environments based on collaboration, iteration, and adaptation.

“The methodology has been used and tested under different rural conditions as encountered in rural or sub-urban communities in Sarawak,” he said in a social media post.

Mohamad Kadim pointed out that it is certainly a mutually beneficial project between VUA and UNIMAS in the joint efforts to strengthen global partnership.

“Ackermann also presented a public lecture to UNIMAS campus community as well as advising the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) on curriculum design and delivery.
