KUCHING: Unimas Hammer team won the inaugural Inter- Agency Tenpin Bowling Pelita Cup 2018 competition organised by Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) through Laksamana Club held last Friday and Saturday.
The inaugural trophy was presented to the winners by Datu Sajeli Kipli, general manager of Land Custody and Development Authority. There were a total of 66 teams (24 teams in ladies category and 42 teams in men category) teams all together from various State Departments and Agencies competing for the chance to be crowned as the first champion of the TENPIN PELITA CUP and prize money with the total worth of RM6,200. Aside from competition prizes there were also lucky draw prizes in the form of hampers given throughout the competition.
The list of winners are as follows: Open Category: Frenz Landas (2,251 pinfalls) Men’s’ Team Category: Cahaya Mata Sarawak (2,202 pinfalls) High Game and High Series (Men: Pandetar Zin from Cahaya Mata Sarawak (591 pinfalls) Women’s Team Category: Unimas Hammer (1902 pinfalls) High Game and High Series (Women): Dayang Salina from Immigration Department (539 pinfalls) The competition was held to foster the spirit of tolerance among employees while practicing a healthy lifestyle through sports-based activities and provide opportunities of interaction and socialising with State and Federal Departments Agencies as well as invited private agencies and the media.
The competition garnered exciting response from the bowlers from around Kuching and Samarahan. Among the agencies competing were from Chief Minister’s Office, Immigration Department of Malaysia Sarawak, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Sarawak St a t e L ibr a r y , Ma l a y s i a n Pepper Board, Land and Survey Department, Sarawak Rivers Board, PDRM, BOMBA, Felcra, DBKU, SEDC, LHDN, JKR, Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara, Majlis Islam Sarawak, Jabatan Agama Islam Sarawak, Persatuan Sukan dan Kebudayaan Perkhidmatan Pelajaran, Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, Paraympic Tenpin Sarawak, Unimas, UiTM and the invited private sector are Bank Rakyat, Bank Islam and Cahya Mata Sarawak. It is also a way to enhance mental fitness in a balanced way from moral, spiritual, mentally and emotionally. As the competition was extended to two days, the champions were only crowned on Saturday evening.
Also present was Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly, senior manager of corporate affairs department who was also the chairman of the organising committee. Meanwhile, the competition will be held annually and the organisers hoped that more agencies will take part in next year’s competition.
