KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) will collaborate with Kurume University, Japan on research activity and training.
This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions at Unimas campus here today.
The collaboration would also include students and staff exchange.
Aside from that, the two parties will work closely on the exchange of publications, reports and other academic materials and share activities and programmes in areas of mutual interest.
Signing the MoU for Unimas was its deputy vice chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim while Kurume University was represented by its president Kensei Nagata.
Unimas Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Dean, Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, and Special Advisor to the President for International Relations and Regional Partnership, Prof Eiji Ohyano, witnessed the ceremony.
The MoU marked the latest step, through the efforts of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, in establishing link partners, for medical specialist training to complement the future Unimas 300-bed hospital situated near Unimas Campus in Kota Samarahan.
