KOTA SAMARAHAN: Community-themed corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes can foster
closer relations and instil good values.
This was shown when 15 Shaoxing University Yuanpei College students and one
lecturer from China as well as 15 staff members of Unimas Global (UG) and students of Unimas participated in a recent CSR project at SK Kampung Senari, Petra Jaya recently.
Among the activities that took place included the collection of donations to upgrade the school gallery and organising games and talks by Unimas students.
The project organised by UG aimed to encourage staff members and students to participate in the Unimas 2019 Summer Programme to give back to society.
Staff members and students gathered at the campus before heading to SK Kampung Senari for a day of fun-filled activities with 180 children, who warmly greeted the visitors with smiles and excited chatter.
According to UG director Azlan Ramli, the objectives of the CSR are to integrate and add value to the existing CSR initiatives by Unimas through collaborations with other international universities; empower Unimas staff and students to share knowledge and skills for the benefit of the community; and develop and
initiate collaborations with stakeholders for strategic inventions in the
community.
The project also saw staff members and students encouraged and motivated the school children to achieve their goals in life and clearly portrayed them as part of a supportive, caring community.
As part of the project, a donation drive was conducted on campus grounds to buy electrical appliances for the school as well as building the school signage from ferro-cement.
Also present during the opening ceremony was SK Kampung Senari headmaster Hajjah Hamdiah Mat, Suzy from Shaoxing University Yuanpei College as well as teachers of the school and staff members of Unimas Global.
