KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) is optimistic that its teaching hospital project will be completed as scheduled.
Unimas vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said the project consists of two main components.
“The first is the primary health centre, which consists of specialist clinics, and God willing, this component will be completed at the end of this year, which is according to the schedule that has been set.
“The second component, which is the university teaching hospital, will be completed in July 2025, two years from now,” he was quoted in a TVS report.
He was asked to comment on the latest development of the hospital project after paying a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Thursday (Oct 26).
He added that the project, which costs over RM500mil, would take about four years to complete.
“It may take some time also before it can start operating to ensure that the hospital is equipped with facilities and equipment that will be used later.”
The Unimas Teaching Hospital, when completed and operational, has a capacity of 300 beds.
