KOTA SAMARAHAN: The construction of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) teaching hospital is currently in the final preparation of tendering a document.
This was revealed by its Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the campus here today.
“The teaching hospital has been approved by the government and will be built in the fourth rolling plan under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
“Now we are finalising the tender document which will take some time to be completed because it is a tedious exercise,” he said.
Kadim added that the documents are expected to be ready by year end. After that, it will be followed by the tendering process.
“Hopefully we will start the construction in the first quarter of 2020,” he told reporters after the MoU signing event.
Kadim added that the new building will be located outside the campus.
“The teaching hospital will be provided with 300 beds which includes a primary and daycare centre.
“The cost is estimated to be about RM560 million and hopefully the construction of the building can be completed within three or four years,” he continued.
