KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) will improve its existing systems and practices while implementing new initiatives to produce holistic future graduates.
Its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said the move, however, would require strong internal fundamentals supported by all stakeholders.
Addressing some 2,000 academic and non-academic staff of Unimas at Dewan Arena Gemilang, DeTAR PUTRA here yesterday, he said the new initiatives would focus on strengthening teaching excellence and enhancing student learning experience.
The new initiatives will be in line with the theme of his keynote address “Nurturing Future Graduate, Strengthening Teaching Excellence, Enhancing Student Experience”.
Pointing out that education should also focus on shared core values of love, happiness, and mutual respect, Kadim said Unimas must be willing to embrace changes and sustainability initiatives to ensure it remains relevant.
He thanked everyone for the excellent performances and achievements recorded by Unimas throughout last year.
On another note, Kadim said Unimas would continue to give due emphasis to matters relating to student learning needs, staff development, scholarly grants in teaching-learning (SoTL) for academic programmes, recognition of teaching excellence, student experience through curriculum transformation, Myportfolio, campus radio.
This was in line with the need to provide graduates who were prepared to meet the needs of the future and thrive in a constantly changing world of today, he added.
