KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) yesterday welcomed 3,734 new students comprising 3,467 undergraduates and 267 post graduate students during an oath-taking ceremony at its Arena Gemilang Hall yesterday.
The ceremony was graced by Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation Professor Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim, who represented Unimas Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.
Newly-enrolled for September 2019/2020 intake session, the new students were urged to grab the opportunity to experience a student’s life.
In expressing the university’s hope to continue producing holistic graduates, Kadim, in his message read by Wan Hashim, said the new students were expected to become agents of changes with a first-world class mindset and mature attitude.
“Congratulations to the new students for being part of Unimas here. It is the day for you to set your goal and step up your efforts to achieve success in your life.
“Make your parents proud and stay relevant and be relevant in this challenging era regardless of your background.”
Kadim said students could only achieve goals with intellectual knowledge, maturity and a positive attitude.
Also present at the ceremony was Unimas Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie.
