SIBU: Responding to an emergency call from an anxious lady caller requesting for help by the sudden presence of a wild animal in her home, Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station mobilised a Rescue Squad immediately to the address.

Station chief Mahmudin Narudin said the fire department received an emergency call at 6.30am.

“A team of four firefighters was immediately deployed to the family home at Jalan Pandan, and the animal turned out to be a pygmy slow loris,” he said.

He said the animal was caught and released back into the wild.

According to Mahmudin, the pygmy slow loris, known scientifically as Nycticebus pygmaeus, is listed under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red list of Threatened Species.
