REPAIR OF DILAPIDATED SCHOOLS IN SARAWAK

KUCHING: The Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) has commended the extra allocation for the repair of dilapidated schools in Sarawak under the coming 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) as mentioned by Deputy Minister of Education Muslimin Yahaya in Parliament on Thursday.

STU president Macky Joseph stressed for safety in schools in Sarawak to accommodate the state’s teachers and pupils.

“We hope that our schools in Sarawak, especially in the interior, are safely and easily reachable by roads and other means,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He also called for fast internet connectivity and a more conducive teaching and learning environment.

“STU stresses sufficient allocations for the teachers’ quarters to be a comfortable place to stay.

“Let our teachers’ quarters be fully equipped and in good condition at all times as a place to rest after class and prepare their teaching for the following day,” said Macky.
