DEBAK: Politicians are urged to put aside their differences and unite to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

The interests of the country and the people should be placed above all others while their political differences should be tackled in the best possible way, said Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam.

This is in line with the government’s efforts to stop further Covid-19 infection which is seeing a rapid surge in the past few weeks or so, he said.

“The health aspects of the people must be given top priority. The uncertain health crisis we are facing now due to the Covid-19 pandemic must be addressed together,” he said in a telephone interview today.

Razi said the fight against Covid-19 should not be shouldered by the health frontliners and for the people to observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) alone.

“We as politicians must also play our part. Resolve this pandemic first then we will be free to engage in politics. As of now, it’s just not conducive at all,” he added.

Razi described the action by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who intends to seek the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhun Sultan Ahmad Shah to cancel the declaration of emergency is his personal view as an opposition leader.

“But Anwar’s action only proves one thing, namely big trouble is brewing among the opposition political parties in Malaya.

“We leave it to the wisdom of the Agong to decide,” he added.
