LIMBANG: The unity in Sarawak among its diverse set of people has been the main factor in contributing towards peace and harmony in the state.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that Sarawakians have practiced mutual respect and tolerance towards each other.
“Many of us have a sense of familial bond despite the differences in customs, race, background or religious beliefs.
“Our community is able to live under one roof. Therefore, we must protect the harmony as well as valued which have been practiced,” he said.
He was speaking at the Pre Christmas Celebrations 2022 at the Saint Edmund Hall in Limbang on Saturday (Dec 17).
He further added that the government and the community must focus on physical developments, social, economic, education, health and other related matters.
The event was attended by some 800 attendees from various Christian denominations in Limbang such as Roman Catholics, SIBA, Anglican and Methodist.
Meanwhile, Awang Tengah presented a cheque of RM1.3 million to 12 churches and chapels in the Batu Danau constituency.
Besides that, he presented Christmas gifts to 40 disabled persons (OKU) from the church.
Also present at the event were, Federal Deputy Transport Minister, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, State Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.
