BINTULU: Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon has stressed that unity and solidarity are key to economic, social, and political stability in a multi-ethnic society like Sarawak.

He emphasised that good relations between communities, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or religion, are essential in creating social harmony. According to him, fostering quality relationships makes it easier to achieve unity and strengthen harmony within the community, particularly in the Sebauh District.

“When understanding and unity become a culture, we can address social issues and challenges in an integrated manner,” he said while speaking at the Community Solidarity Walk (CSW) Programme held at Uma Jaya Paran, Hungei Ayu, Long Pelisit, Tubau, last Saturday.

The programme was organised by the Sarawak Social Development Council in collaboration with the Bintulu Resident’s Office, Sebauh District Office, as well as the Village Development and Security Committee and the local Rukun Tetangga Committee.

Among those present at the event were Bintulu Resident Datu Nyurak Keti, Sebauh District Officer Thadeus Ling Allu, and community leaders and village heads from the Tubau, Jelalong, and Sebauh areas.
