KUCHING: A strong sense of cohesiveness is crucial in Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) for understanding and a flawless forward plan for the party as well as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as a whole.
Its women chief Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie said when the party leaders and members can work together as one solid team, they become a force to be reckoned with.
“We will be celebrating our party’s 19th anniversary on Oct 23, thus, I would like to reiterate the importance of knowing and understanding the party’s initial struggles and as to why and how the PRS was formed.
“Until we know and are able to appreciate all these, we are moving forward with a void and without a vision,” she said after the PRS N32 Simanggang annual general meeting in Sri Aman yesterday (Sept 27).
The meeting which was chaired by Doris, who is also the divisional chairman, discussed among others the importance of enhancing and strengthening the spirit of oneness, especially among members and GPS component parties.
Earlier, both their women and youth wings held their AGMs at the same venue.
Doris, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sri Aman, said the meeting also passed three resolutions, including unanimously supporting the leadership of Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum as the party president and the leadership of the party’s supreme council, to ensure stability and progress for PRS.
The party members, she said, will continue to work with the GPS component partners, especially in Simanggang, Sri Aman for the progress and prosperity of the local community.
“Lastly, we remain strongly behind Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and continue to support him as our Premier and GPS chairman,” she added.
