KUCHING: The Batu Kawa branch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) has overcome challenges that once nearly hindered its progress.
In stating this Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said unity has made them stronger and more resilient than ever.
“The attendance of all representatives and observers from our branches showcases PBB Batu Kawa’s loyalty and maturity as we embrace the strength and joy of overcoming past divisions,” he said during a branch meeting here Sunday (Sept 22).
He said the branch’s unity is a blessing rooted in a shared vision to advance all aspects of development in Batu Kawa through collaboration with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), the Neighbourhood Watch Community (KRT), Surau or Masjid, Parents and Teachers Associations (PIBG), and various associations.
“In Batu Kawa, our leadership prioritises constructive action over blame or criticism, fostering a political culture that benefits the local community through teamwork.
“United, the new branch committee will enhance the party’s administration while tasking the Youth with expanding our membership, particularly among those aged 18 to 28, as they represent our future and should be actively involved in all branch and state activities,” he added.
Ahmad also said that once regarded as rural or suburban, the Batu Kawa area is now experiencing rapid development.
“To effectively address the challenges of urbanisation and socio-economic conditions, we must gather crucial demographic information from all members.
“Issues such as unemployment, education, training, housing, health, and welfare require the attention of relevant parties to ensure appropriate action is taken.”
With only three years remaining in the current term, Ahmad emphasised the need for commitment and excellence in its ongoing efforts.
During a recent meeting, several key proposals were made to address the community’s pressing issues.
Among them free dialysis treatments at private clinics and dialysis centres, aiming to provide these essential services at no cost to all Sarawakians, with funding from the Sarawak government.
“To promote environmentally friendly transportation, the branch proposed an exemption on road tax for privately owned electric cars, hydrogen vehicles, and motorcycles for three to five years,” he stated.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and the PBB Headquarters Coordinating Team were among those who attended the PBB Batu Kawa Branch Meeting.
