KUALA LUMPUR: The 2023 SEA Games gold medallist in the men’s 400m, Umar Osman continued to display a powerful run when he once again broke his national record at the World University Games (Universiade) in Chengdu, China, today.

The 20-year-old clocked 46.09s to finish third in the third semi-final heat at the Shuangliu Sports Centre Stadium, thus qualifying him for tomorrow’s final after finishing fourth overall.

Australian athlete Reece Nathaniel Holder emerged the fastest runner in the semi-finals of the event after clocking 45.75s, also in the third semi-final heat.

Yesterday, Umar clocked 46.33s in the qualifying round to finish in second place overall, thus breaking the national record of 46.34s he set at the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, last May. – BERNAMA
