BEIJING: Malaysian university publishers are eager to forge collaborations with the Higher Education Press of China.

This is following a visit to the Higher Education Press by Malaysian university publishers and private publishing houses.

It marked a significant step towards fostering international collaborations in educational publishing.
In academic publishing industry, a strategic collaboration has the potential to not only diversify educational resources but also enhance the quality and accessibility of educational materials in both countries.

The Higher Education Press which was established in 1954 has been one of the earliest professional as well as educational publishers since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

From translating and adapting Soviet Union textbooks to self-compiling national curriculum materials and advancing into innovative and digital textbooks, Higher Education Press mirrors the evolution of textbooks publication for higher education and vocational education in New China.

Among the representatives present during the engagement session were Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Press, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Publisher, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Press, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Press, Shake Book Projects Sdn Bhd and Pelangi Publishing.

During their visit, the delegation was given a briefing and tour of the exhibition on the developments of textbooks for higher education and vocational education in China.

The exhibition also featured the Higher Education Press’ history as it commemorates its 70th anniversary.
The delegates were introduced to the latest developments in textbooks tailored for higher education and vocational training in China.

The exhibition not only showcased the evolution of educational materials over the decades but also highlighted the innovative approaches adopted by the Higher Education Press to enhance learning outcomes.

At the same time, the visit also provided an opportunity for fruitful discussions on future partnerships in educational research, joint publications, and the adaptation of Chinese educational materials to meet the needs of Malaysian universities.
