KUCHING: The Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills) and Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd have embarked on various joint strategic initiatives to advance talent development in Sarawak.

Sarawak Skills’ chief commercial officer (Strategic Engagement and Business Development) Mohamad Isham Fauzi said this followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations in December last year.

“Our joint initiatives will centre on talent development to support the Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system and hydrogen-related technological applications.

典his is in line with Sarawak Metro痴 role as the implementer of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) which includes hydrogen fuel cell buses and the ART system,・ he said during a working visit by Sarawak Metro to Sarawak Skills Tabuan Jaya campus today.

He added that for the institute’s trainees and graduates, this collaboration opened the doors of opportunity in terms of internship and employment opportunities at Sarawak Metro.

He said Sarawak Metro’s staff would also have access to the wide range of upskilling and reskilling training programmes offered by Sarawak Skills.

“Both parties are also exploring the possibility of developing new training programmes for employees of the transportation and related sectors in Sarawak.

“Indeed, this will contribute to the transformation of Sarawak’s socio-economic landscape in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030),” he said.

Isham stated that Sarawak Skills had also incorporated Industry Revolution 4.0 and renewable energy technologies into its technical curricula.

“This is an important part of our objective to offer industry-driven and future-oriented educational and training courses and programmes.”
