SIBU: A local prominent business figure is quite optimistic about the economic outlook this year.
According to Datuk Seri Lau Kueng Chai, the unity government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is now very stable.
“I believe it will definitely bring considerable foreign exchange to our country,” he pointed out.
He was speaking to reporters during the Chinese New Year (CNY) visit by Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to his residence here recently.
Lau, who is Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU)’s Advisory Committee member opined that as for Sarawak’s economy, it would reach a new milestone under the capable and dynamic leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He is also currently holding the post of deputy treasurer for Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Central.
Among those present during Tiong’s CNY visit were chairman of Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong, chairman of PDP Dudong Branch Councillor Teo Boon Siew and chairman of Sibu Automobile Repairers Asssociation councillor Teo Nging Poh.
