NVIDIA has released a new driver it says enables a better graphics experience on its Geforce and Tian series cards by displaying a much wider colour range. According to the company, the update increases the number of colour shades that can be displayed from 16 million (24 bits) to more than a billion (30 bits). Previously, 30-bit colour was only available on Nvidia’s Quadro family of high-end
cards.
However, the chip manufacturer points out that you’ll still need a suitable screen, software and content to be available to display 30-bit colours.
Currently, among the software that supports 30bit colour display are image processing and video editing programs like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Autodesk RV, Colorfront Transkoder, Assimilate Scratch and Foundry Nuke. – dpa
