MIRI: The ongoing road upgrade of the “Jalan Ke Skim Rancangan Sepupok Niah” project is nearing completion and is set to benefit 12 longhouses and three schools in the area: SK Skim Rancangan Sepupok, SMK Subis and SMK Suai.

This project is expected to benefit approximately 3,000 people by improving safety, accessibility, and durability, thus enhancing local connectivity, economic activity, and overall quality of life.

Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo; accompanied by Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus; and Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) director Dr Cassidy Morris conducted a working visit to the site.

Commissioned by the Sarawak government, the project aims to rehabilitate and resurface approximately 14.957 km of existing premix road and install necessary road furniture.

The contract for this project, which began on Feb 13, 2024, is scheduled to be completed by Aug 12, 2024, with the work currently 91.20 per cent complete.
