THE upgrading works on the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex will begin in the first quarter of 2025.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this in his ministerial winding-up speech on Wednesday (May 15), addressing the concerns raised by Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada regarding the need for internet service at the Tebedu ICQS Complex.

During his debate speech on May 9, Dr Sinang highlighted that despite an approved allocation of RM100mil in 2021, progress had yet to be made on upgrading the Tebedu ICQS Complex.

Additionally, Uggah also addressed the concerns raised by assemblymen about road construction, road upgrading, bridges, street lightings, and other infrastructure projects in their constituencies.

“Three projects––the Nanga Baoh/Nanga Tamin/Stapang Bahagian Mukah, Sibu Road Construction Project, the Nanga Luam/Nanga Woh/Ulu Mukah, Sibu Road Construction Project, and the Jalan Ng. Pakoh to Rumah Pantan Ulu Oya, Sibu Road Construction Project, are expected to be tendered by the first quarter of 2025.”

“The construction of a bridge crossing at Rumah Jamba, tender is expected to be called in the fourth quarter of 2024.

“The construction of the temporary Musah bridge will be completed by the end of this month, and the reconstruction of the Musah bridge is expected to be tendered next year.”

“The six infrastructure projects approved under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) amounting to RM641mil are all under the pre-contract stage.”
