PADAWAN: The Bidayuh are told to support and uplift one another when venturing into entrepreneurship.
Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil pointed out that those involved in entrepreneurship tend to develop a habit of unhealthy competitiveness.
He advised Bidayuh entrepreneurs to refrain from practicing the toxic habit and reminded that wealth can be shared through cooperation amongst all entrepreneurs.
“My suggestion is learn to have good wealth management and develop a habit of saving up once you are successful.
“Also learn to share and give to the needy. There are many who are in need and if you have more to spare, give it to them and whoever manages to sustain their lives and become well off as a result of your assistance, let them be rich,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the closing of the Penrissen Bidayuh Entrepreneur Association (PUBP) entrepreneurship programme “Towards Empowering Penrissen Bidayuh Entrepreneurs” at St Paul Church Kampung Bunuk’s Parish Hall in Jalan Puncak Borneo, here on Saturday (Dec 19).
Dr Jerip also advised the Bidayuh to employ other Bidayuh should the opportunity arise.
“This is because we would be able to better understand our own people and we can teach them and train them,” he added.
He explained that if Bidayuh entrepreneurs practice these values, it would eliminate the element of unhealthy competitiveness among Bidayuh entrepreneurs.
“What we have, we share. What is lacking, we add. What opportunities we have, we distribute,” said Dr Jerip.
He also urged the Bidayuh to collaborate with entrepreneurs and business partners of different races.
“Collaborate with other races and learn from them so that we can all learn together and become successful together as well,” he added.
