UPM alumni can contribute to economic development: Aaron

KUCHING: National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said Persatuan Alumni Universiti Putra Malaysia Sarawak (PAUPMS) has what it takes to make a meaningful contribution to the state.

He based his confidence in the fact that the association comprised members from various disciplines, including professionals.

“There are also retirees with vast experience who previously held high-ranking positions in public service and the private sector.

“Their knowledge and experience are invaluable and can be utilised to contribute to Sarawak’s economic development,” he said during PAUPMS’ first Annual General Meeting here on Saturday (Nov 16).

The event was attended by 73 alumni and Aaron who commended it as a positive step forward said there is a need to implement more activities in the future with the cooperation of all members.

“As alumni, we have a crucial role in upholding the good name of our university. Hence, this association serves as a platform for us to collectively give back to the university through our experiences, knowledge, finances or expertise,” he added.

Meanwhile, PAUPMS president, Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, said the association aims to unite Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) alumni by leveraging their diverse skills and experiences to contribute to society and the state.

“Therefore, events like this provide an opportunity to foster relationships, exchange ideas, and discuss ways we can collectively impact the community,” he explained.

During the ceremony, Aaron was officially made patron of PAUPMS.
