UPM Bintulu students do their campus proud

BINTULU: Six Diploma in Agricultural Engineering Technology students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus brought pride to their institution by clinching both gold and silver medals at the Southeast Asian Agricultural and Food Engineering Student Chapter Annual Regional Convention (ARC2023) recently.

The event took place at the Faculty of Engineering, UPM Serdang, from Aug 20 to 26.

The students are Za’im Zuhairrudin Akhmal Zailani, Chiah Yi Hua, Muhammad Irfan Isyraf Rosdi, Ainnul Mardiah Shafiee, Cyril Oneil, Michael Musa Onell, and Keagan Chandi.

They were under the guidance of lecturers from the Department of Science and Technology, namely Dr Wan Nor Zanariah Zainol @ Abdullah, Dr Nozieana Khairuddin, and Dr Nor Hanifawati Inai.

In addition to UPM Bintulu, ARC2023 also saw participation from agricultural engineering students from the Philippines (Caraga State University, Mindoro State University), Thailand (Suranee University of Technology), Indonesia (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Brawijaya), as well as several local institutions such as UPM Serdang, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Perda, Politeknik Kota Bharu, and Politeknik Jeli.

This six-day programme provided students with agricultural engineering backgrounds from Asean countries the opportunity to exchange experiences and insights into the field of agricultural engineering.

Simultaneously, the programme offered foreign students, especially those from outside Malaysia, a chance to explore agricultural technology in the country.
