KOTA SAMARAHAN: Creative arts students are encouraged to enhance their artificial intelligence (AI) skills to create more engaging works.
Lecturer from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FSGK), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Yow Chong Lee said he sees AI as a helpful and influential tool in the current creative industry.
He said it is also a valuable learning tool and not a negative development, especially in this industry.
“I encourage students to use AI and ChatGPT in their assignments because I want them to learn the processes involved, particularly in filmmaking.
“We understand they have a sense of curiosity; without that curiosity, they wouldn’t be able to ask good questions — that’s why I encourage students to use the technology,” he said.
He said this during a press conference for the upcoming Mini Film Festival x Mini Arts Festival (MFFxMAF) held at the Hock Seng Lee (HSL) tower here today.
On another note, he added that to produce interesting works, such potential needs to be harnessed.
“We learn how to use the technology, create images or videos, and it is actually very beneficial.
“That is why I also encourage students to participate in the workshops offered, including in the festival,” he said.
