SERIAN: Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), clubs and associations in the district are urged to leverage the provisions of Minor Rural Projects (MRPs).
Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem said the funds that had been distributed should be spent on village related matters such as village administration and small scale development in the village or school.
“The programme or project implementation report must be sent to the Service Centre for record,” he said at the presentation of Higher Education Institution student incentive and Serian MRP fund here on Saturday (July 30).
Riot then pointed out that the allocation application of more than RM20,000 must be submitted to the implementing agencies for open tender.
At the event, he handed over the MRP donation of RM290,000 to 32 associations and clubs in his constituency.
Incentives of RM8,600 are also submitted to excellent students as well as those who will register to public and private institutions of higher learning (IPTA/IPTS).
Earlier, Riot, who is also the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to East Asia called on students to choose good institutions so that they can seek better opportunities to get a job in the future.
“Young people also need to be wise in choosing peers to avoid getting caught up in unwanted social problems such as drug abuse and so on,” he said.
During the event, he also handed over RM14,400 worth of incentives to 48 outstanding students from four schools, namely SMK Tebakang, SMK Serian, SMK Tebedu and SMK Taee.
