BINTULU: Recipients of the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants have been advised to put the grants to good use.
Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip said the grants approved by the Sarawak government should be used for the benefit of the community and not for personal use.
“The MRP fund is very significant to accelerate development in the rural areas in the state,” he said after presenting the MRP grants for Jepak at the Jepak constituency community service centre today.
Talib, who is also the Jepak assemblyman, mentioned that the allocation of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and MRP is helpful for the elected representatives to develop rural areas.
“This is to fasten the state government’s efforts to close the development gap between the urban and rural areas,” he added.
At the event, Talib presented an MRP grant of RM227,500 to 31 recipients representing clubs, associations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
