KUCHING: The government hopes that the RM1 bus fare will encourage more people to go to the vaccination centres for their first or second dose of the Covid-19 vaccines, said Datuk Lee Kim Shin.
The Transport minister added the state government through his ministry had collaborated with the relevant agencies and the stage bus companies to initiate the RM1.00 Flat Rate Bus Fare Programme for routes to the vaccination centres in major towns of Sarawak.
“The stage bus services are among the various modes of transport that the public can take from their homes to the jab centres,” he said.
Lee hoped the vaccine recipients would use the buses.
“By using the stage buses and hydrogen buses, they do not have to worry about parking problems,” he said.
Lee reminded that the public fare for the buses was only RM1 per trip per person.
“This is very affordable to the users in view of the adverse impacts of Covid-19 on personal finances.
“Aside from that, I would like to urge those who have not registered for vaccination to do so now.
“Let us all work together and do justice to ourselves as the first line of defence in fighting against the Covid-19 and in creating the herd immunity as soon as possible,” he stressed.
