Renowned preacher Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias is set to play himself in his own biopic, directed by singer-turned-director Asmawi Ani, better known as Mawi.
The 49-year-old will be the leading actor in the film titled “Zim Zim Ala Kazim”.
Ustaz Kazim revealed that he agreed to collaborate with Mawi as he was confident with Mawi’s creativity and work.
“Before Mawi, there were three others who had come to me with their intention of turning my life story into a film, but may be it was not meant to be as nothing serious really came out.
“With Mawi, I am confident that he will be able to deliver to audience what I have envisioned in the script,” he said.
The film, which costs RM500,000, will begin filming in Perak from May 9 to 23.
Besides Ustaz Kazim himself, the casts also include Along Cham, Syanie Hashim, Danial Zaini, Sharif Kadir, Santesh and Zarina Anjoulie.
The film is slated for screening on Astro First in October, in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebrations.
