KUCHING: True to the spirit of Hari Gawai, members from Utama Toastmasters Club, Bandar Kuching visited Dayak members and associates on June 1.
Led by Datuk Dr. John Lau Pang Heng, DTM, past International President of Toastmasters International, and a member of Utama Toastmasters Club, the other members of the delegation were Lucy Ho Jia Yiing, DTM (club president, Utama Toastmasters Club), Stanley Gona Chee Khiong, DTM (vice president Public Relations, Utama Toastmasters Club), Amanda Lee (incoming treasurer, Utama Toastmasters Club), and Patrick Chang, the club’s newest member.
The first stop for the visitors was the family home of Jarrett Kong and Tina John at Kampung Simboh, Jalan Puncak Borneo.
Both Jarrett and his son Nicholas are members of Utama Toastmasters Club. Jarrett is also the incoming vice president Public Relations of the club for the 2023-2024 term. Nicholas is the club’s incoming Sergeant at Arms.
Following the visit, the Toastmasters delegation visited a number of the club’s associates/friends at Kampong Sg Tapang, the home of the Sg Tapang football team members, whom Lau sponsored.
UTAMA Toastmasters achieved the President’s Distinguished Club for the 2022-2023 term and received awards at the just concluded Annual Conference held in Bali recently.
Utama Toastmasters Club in Kuching welcomes individuals who are keen to hone their communication and leadership skills to join us.
Members will be able to develop these essential skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Meetings are held fortnightly (starting at 7.30 pm on the second and fourth Thursday of the month).
