KUCHING: The appointment of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Ja’afar as the second chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) will be commemorated with the publication of a special biography detailing his life journey and significant contributions.
The biography is set to be launched during the 9th UTS Convocation Ceremony in December.
UTS vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Ab Hamid said the biography will include Wan Junaidi’s insights and advice on the future direction of UTS as a state-owned higher education institution.
“His extensive experience in the federal government and various ministries will serve as a crucial guide to ensure UTS continues to develop in line with Sarawak’s development agenda.”
Prof Khairuddin told reporters this following a courtesy visit by the UTS delegation to Astana Negeri Sarawak today (Sept 12).
He asserted that Wan Junaidi’s appointment as chancellor will serve as a benchmark for enhancing UTS’ management and academic programmes, particularly in producing a workforce that meets the needs of Sarawak.
“He also underscores the importance of equipping every student with knowledge, management skills, and a comprehensive understanding of humanitarian elements.”
Also present during the courtesy visit were UTS registrar Jimmy De Rozario @ Abdul Rahman, UTS Administration and Corporate Relations Department head Mohd Ian Daim Mahmud, as well as Kuching Marketing and Student Recruitment manager Lau Wee Ming.
