LUNDU: V United squad emerged champions of Tanjong Datu Assemblywoman football championship 2017 to lift the Datuk Amar Datin Patinggi Jamilah Anu Cup after defeating Sempadi team with 2-1 in the final at the Lundu Mini Stadium on Saturday.
Usman Ladi and Mohd Zulhanizam Mohd Ali Borhan scored the goals for V United in the 7th and 34th minutes respectively. Sempadi’s goal was scored by Shabihin Sahari in the 63rd minute.
With the victory, V United took home a challenge trophy, accompany trophy, medals and a cash prize of RM3,000.
Sempadi FC as runners-up received a cash prize of RM2,000, a trophy and medals. Meanwhile, the Bauxite team emerged third after beating Seabird team 2-1 to receive a trophy, medals and cash prizes of RM1,000. Seabird took home a trophy, medals and cash prizes of RM500 for finishing fourth.
Tanjong Datu State Assemblywoman, Datuk Amar Datin Patinggi Hajah Jamilah Anu gave away the prizes. Also present were Lundu District Officer, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, Kuching Division Football Association president, Rakawi Ibrahim and Sarawak Football Association Exco (FAS) and representatives of tournament sponsor Lea Sports Centre. – By Faizal Bujang
