KUCHING: A vacant wooden house was destroyed in a fire at Jalan Ulu Sg Assan in Sibu last Monday night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched sixteen firefighters in two fire engines, an EMRS vehicle and four-wheel-drive vehicle from Sibu fire station to the scene, located about 13km from the station, after receiving a distress call 9.46pm.

The firefighters arrived at the scene at 10.02pm and took about 30 minutes to put out the blaze. About 70 per cent of the house was destroyed.

Zon 4 Bomba chief, Abdul Mutalib Rashid and Sibu fire station chief, Mutalif Ja’far were also present at the scene.
