SIBU: Three zones in the administrative area of the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) are expected to be visited by a vaccination bus in the near future.

This was revealed by the coordinator of the Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) Dr Annuar Rapaee when updating the details of the Sibu District Covid-19 cases on Saturday (June 26) evening.

He explained that the three zones were Sukun, Tiong Hua and Tong Sang Zones where the prevalence of Covid-19 positive cases was still high.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing explained that the Sukun and Tiong Hua areas were still in the red zone, with four and seven Covid-19 positive cases reported on Friday respectively.

The Tong Sang zone, said the Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technology Research, was orange; it recorded three positive Covid-19 cases on Saturday.

Dr Annuar said Sibu now had two vaccination buses; one mini bus was borrowed from Pansar Berhad while another bus was borrowed from Universiti Kolej Teknologi Sarawak (UCTS) to implement part of the mobile vaccination programme here.

Dr Annuar hoped the momentum would continue, adding that 123,113 residents in Sibu Division had now received at least the first dose.

He added that the Sibu Indoor Stadium aimed to give 2,500 doses by Sunday.

Earlier, Dr Annuar, accompanied by UCTS Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, inspected the UCTS bus which would be used as the vaccination bus.
