KUCHING: A total of 292 residents in Lubok Antu district received their first dose of Sinovac vaccine at the vaccination centre (PPV) located in the Dewan Kompleks Sukan, Lubok Antu today (June 16).
According to Margaret Minong, a nursing supervisor at the Lubok Antu Health Clinic, the immunisation programme received positive feedback from the locals.
“I hope the vaccine will be able to raise awareness among the public, particularly those who have not yet registered, so that they are not left behind, as well as to curb and break the chain of Covid-19 infection and develop a herd of immunity in Lubok Antu,” she said.
Baja Takin, 34, a civil servant, expressed his happiness and thanks at being chosen to receive the vaccine today despite having missed an appointment previously.
“I feel safe to work after being vaccinated, especially when dealing with customers at the counter, and I hope people are not scared to receive the vaccination to protect themselves and their families,” he said.
Another recipient, Kadir Brayun, 78, expressed his eagerness to receive the vaccination and expressed hope that it would protect him from the dangers of Covid-19.
Utin Sli, 63, concurred, while expressing happiness and comfort after receiving the vaccine despite initially feeling afraid.
Most of the recipients today were senior citizens and a disabled person.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Lubok Antu District will be carried out in stages based on vaccine supplies.
