MIRI: A van burst into flames in the car porch of a house on Lorong 16, Jalan Kuching Timur 3, here on Wednesday.

The prompt action of the house owner managed to extinguish the flames before it could cause significant damage or injuries.

Firemen from the Miri Sentral fire station, led by Erec Unyi, responded swiftly to the emergency call received at 1.26 pm, and arrived at the scene shortly after.

Upon arrival, the firefighters found that the blaze had already been controlled by the house owner using tap water.

The fire broke out in an unused van located in the side yard of the house owner’s.

The house owner and nearby residents acted quickly, using tap water to douse the flames until the fire was completely extinguished.

The firefighting team did not need to perform any fire suppression activities but monitored the location to ensure the situation was entirely safe.
