KUCHING: A dream to promote Sarawak and an interest in photojournalism leads photographer Nadim Bokhari to organise his fourth solo exhibition next year.

Nadim, who is currently holding a solo exhibition titled ‘Solidarity Palestine’ at Majma Mall until today (Dec 29), hopes that his fourth solo exhibition can be realised in conjunction with the celebration of National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2024.

Nadim has more than 30 years of experience as a photojournalist, said that he hopes there are sponsors willing to come forward to cooperate in realising the planning of organising the solo exhibition.

He previously held a solo exhibition ‘Photojournalism In the Eyes of Nadim Bokhari’ at the Sarawak State Library in 2022 and ‘Photojournalism In The Eyes of Nadim Bokhari – Part 2’ at Heritage Central Cafe, Yayasan Sarawak Building in May.

“If I receive sponsorship, I intend to exhibit various photos while working as a photojournalist, this will be the fourth solo exhibition that highlights my work.

“As a photojournalist who learned from experience while carrying out tasks in the field, I managed to immortalise various experiences of ups and downs through photos that were used as news material,” he said in a press release yesterday.

Nadim added that his work as a photojournalist in the field gave him many valuable experiences that could not be learned anywhere.

“I prioritise high work discipline and always do ‘homework’ before going to the field, it is indeed a photojournalist’s routine.

“My experience for 30 years has taught me a lot about the ups and downs in the industry in addition to mentoring friends and learning from mistakes made me survive in this field,” he said.

Adding on, Nadim said that the opportunity to hold an exhibition before also gave him the experience of exchanging views.

“During the last exhibition, I learned a lot and received opinions from visitors in the field of photojournalism.

“There are visitors who come from abroad such as Japan, South Korea, the United States and also from within the country who also share techniques in producing the best angle of the picture,” he said.
