KUCHING: A Vice-Chancellor of a university here lost more than RM10,000 in belongings after his house was broken into yesterday morning.

According to the 56-year-old victim, from Taman Satria Jaya, his wife woke up him at around 7.00am and told him that their gas cylinder was missing.

Upon checking his belongings in the house, he found two bicycles worth RM9,200 in total and two branded shoes were missing.

Meanwhile, a college student lost more than RM5,000 in cash and belongings after her car was broken into yesterday morning.

Prior to the incident, the victim had parked her car near the State Library in Petra Jaya and when she returned to retrieve the car, she discovered that her laptop and purse were missing.

Besides the missing laptop and purse, the victim also discovered that somebody had used her ATM card to withdraw RM5,000 at around 9.36am.

A police report on the incident was lodged.
