KUCHING: Video games like PUBG Mobile are more than just a hobby as it can be turned into a career to generate income.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said if one wishes to make a career out of PUBG Mobile or any other game, it needs to be done diligently.
“This includes efficient training and mastering all aspects of the skills required,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the ‘SAMArindok PUBG Mobile SARAMEDIA-AKYBMS 2020’ programme live at Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak (AKYBMS)’s Facebook page on Saturday night (Sept 26).
He added that many young people now generate lucrative income through live broadcast activities — up to four figures a month — through Facebook and so on.
“E-sports is not only promoted at the national-level such as the Malaysian Games (Sukma), but also internationally.
“This proves that opportunities in e-sports should be explored, especially in our efforts in moving towards the digital era and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0),” he said.
Awang Tengah, who is also the chairman of AKYBMS Board of Trustees, said PUBG Mobile encourages players to think creatively, strategically and competitively.
“It can also foster teamwork to achieve goals or victories together,” he explained.
Awang Tengah also stressed that good time management is required when it comes to e-sports.
“Thus, I would like to call on the youth to prioritise their education, college or university studies and not idle in your interests.
“Hone your talents to the best of your ability, improve on the skills you need and gain as much experience as possible — always improve yourself.
“InsyaAllah, Sarawak will produce more athletes and world-class e-sports players in the future,” he said.
