KUCHING: About 105 residents of Kampung Sibu Laut will be able to enjoy various basic facilities in line with the development in the village.
Kampung Sibu Laut village chief Sanep Yasin conveyed his appreciation to the state government, Reach10 Communication, and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) for allowing the villagers to get free internet services.
“Previously, it was very difficult for the village to surf the internet.
“Youth have to go outside the village, at the end of the jetty or the seafront to get good coverage on their phones,” he said.
He stated that with the existence of internet broadband connection known as Wifi Kamek, youth now do not have to go through difficulties in looking for internet coverage.
“The night before, villages used Kamek Wifi and were impressed with the internet speed,” he said.
Sanep is also grateful that facilities such as clean water supply will be given.
“Before this, we had to harvest rainwater to get water resources and it was more difficult when the dry season came,” he said.
He said now, the residents of Kampung Sibu Laut do not have to worry because they will get clean water supply.
“The residents here have the opportunity to receive water supply equal to those living in urban areas,” said Senep.
