BETONG: The Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) project which was introduced by the Sarawak government is part of efforts to develop and build infrastructure for the people.

Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Razi Sita said various plans have been discussed for the development of the Saribas constituency.

He said this when met by reporters after attending a meeting with the Land and Survey Betong Division held recently to discuss on the status of the SPK projects for Kampung Bungin, Kampung Manggut and Kampung Sebemban.

Among other matters discussed were the construction of stall facilities in the area which have the potential to be developed.

Razi also proposed for the SPK project to be opened to the residents of Kampung Supa, Kampung Medang, Kampung Manggut, Kampung Tuie and the surrounding areas.

“This is to ensure that the area which will be developed are centred in one place with various plans for the construction of other facilities,” he added.

At the same time, he also spent time inspecting the location of the new Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sebemban new building which is located in front of the construction of the SPK project in Kampung Sebemban.

The construction of the building is now at 70 per cent completion and is expected to be fully completed by end of this year.

The new school building is one of Razi’s initiatives in an effort to replace the old building which poses danger to the students due to its proximity to the river.

“This new school building will have classroom facilities, administrative offices, school canteen, computer lab, library and pre-school classes,” he said.
