MUKAH: The residents of Kampung Tellian Daya yesterday received two new garbage bins from Mukah and Dalat District Council (MDDM).
Last Friday, the villagers complained to Suara Sarawak (SS) newspaper about the shortage of bins in their village.
According to the newspaper, the villagers had applied for new garbage bins as existing rubbish bins had no covers and wheels.
The uncovered garbage bins had created an unpleasant odour and attracted dogs and cats to look for food in them.
Penghulu Lai Mayer Gabong, when met by reporters, commended MDDM for its swift response to their problem.
“I would also like to thank MDDM for providing new garbage bins to our village.
“At the same time, I urge the villagers to take good care of them. I also advise them to close the garbage bin lids after they have thrown their rubbish,” he said.
